HS2 is the ambitious project to bring a high-speed railway network in the United Kingdom that will link London, Birmingham, Manchester, and other major cities. The project will improve connectivity between these cities, reducing travel time, and increasing capacity on existing rail networks. The proposed HS2 line consists of two phases. Phase One will link London and Birmingham, while Phase Two will extend the line further north to Manchester and Leeds.
The Government has updated how it will deliver some of its major transport infrastructure programmes, including HS2, over the next few years.Importantly, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to delivering HS2 from Euston to Manchester.
On the ground, progress has been maintained to ensure that initial high-speed services, connecting the super-hub stations at Old Oak Common and Birmingham Curzon Street, are operational by the early 2030s.
